BTK Serial Killer (1): On January 15th, 1974, I maliciously, intentionally and premeditated killed Joseph Otero.
BTK Serial Killer (2): Mmm, I think it's 1834 Edgemoor.
BTK Serial Killer (3): Somewhere between 7:00 and 7:30.
BTK Serial Killer (4): No, that was part of my - I guess my what you call fantasy. These people were selected.
BTK Serial Killer (5): Yes, Sir.
BTK Serial Killer (6): Sexual fantasy, yes.
BTK Serial Killer (7): Well, I had - did some thinking on what I was going to do to either Mrs. Otero or Josephine, and basically broke into the house -or didn't break into the house, but when they came out of the house I came in and confronted the family, and then we went from there.
BTK Serial Killer (8): To some degree, yes. After I got in the house, I lost control of it, but it - it was - you know, in back of my mind I had some ideas what I was going to do. But I just - I basically panicked that first day, so -
BTK Serial Killer (9): I thought Mrs. Otero and the two kids - the two younger kids were in the house. I didn't realize Mr. Otero was gonna be there.
BTK Serial Killer (10): I came through the back door, cut the phone lines, waited at the back door, had reservations about even going or just walking away, but pretty soon the door opened, and I was in.
BTK Serial Killer (11): I think one of the kids - I think the Ju - Junior - or not Junior - yes, the - the young girl - Joseph opened the door. He probably let the dog out 'cause the dog was in the house at the time.
BTK Serial Killer (12): Well, I confronted the family, pulled the pistol, confronted Mr. Otero and asked him to - you know, that I was there to -- basically I was wanted, wanted to get the car. I was hungry, food, I was wanted, and asked him to lie down in the living room. And at that time I realized that wouldn't be a really good idea, so I finally - The dog was the real problem, so I - I asked Mr. Otero if he could get the dog out. So he had one of the kids put it out, and then I took them back to the bedroom.

Serial
Killer (13): The
family, the bedroom - the four members.
BTK Serial Killer (14): At that time I tied 'em up.
BTK Serial Killer (15): Well, in between tying, I guess, you know.
BTK Serial Killer (16): Well, ah... they started complaining about being tied up and I reduced into bonds a couple of times, and try to make Mr. Otero as comfortable as I could; currently had a cracked rib from a car accident so I had him put a pillow down on hand, had he put, eh, I think a Parker, coat underneath I think. Talked to me about you know, giving the car or whatever money; I guess they didn´t have very much money. There I realized that, you know, I was ready. I didn´t have a mask or other things. They had already ID me, and made a decision to go ahead, and put him down and I strangled.
BTK Serial Killer (17): Put a plastic over his head and did some cuts and tighten it.
BTK Serial Killer (18): No right away. No, sir, he didn´t.
BTK Serial Killer (19): Ah, well, after that I did Mrs. Otero, I had never stranggled anyone before, so I really don´t know how much pressure you have to put on a person or how long will it take.
BTK Serial Serial Killer (20): Yes, both her hand and her feet were tied up. She was on the bed.
BTK Serial Killer (21): Well, ah... Josephine was on the bed and Junior was on the floor.
BTK Serial Killer (22): He moved over real quick and for a hole in the bag, and I could tell he was having problems there, but at time just the whole went panic on me, so I worked pretty quick.
BTK Serial Killer (23): Well, I mean, like I stranggled Mrs. Otero and she went out or passed out, I thought she was dead, she passed out and I stranggled Josephine, she passed out or I thought she was dead, and then I went over and put it and then, put a bag on Junior´s head, and then, ah... I remember right, Mrs. Otero came back. She came back and...
BTK Serial Killer (24): I put another bag over, or I now recollect, I put a cloth, a t-shirt or something over his head in the bag and another bag inside.
BTK Serial Killer (25): ... Well, yes. I mean, I mean I didn´t stay there long to watch him. I was moving around the room.
BTK Serial Killer (26): Now, I went back to strangle her and that finally killed her at the end.
BTK Serial Killer (27): First of all, Mr. Otero was strangled, a bag fit over his head and was strangled, then I thought he was going down. I went over and strangled Mrs. Otero, I thought she was down. Then I strangled, Josephine, and she was down... and then I went over to Junior and put the bag on his head. After that, Mrs. Otero, woke back up, and she was, you know, pretty upset for what´s going on, so I came back, and at that point in time, I strangled her, for the death strangle with a rope, and then, I think at that point in time, I re-did Mr Otero with the bag over his head... went over junior...oh, before that, she asked me to..ah... to save her son. So actually she had taken the bag off, so I was very upset at that point in time. So... basically Mr. Otero was down, Mrs. Otero was, I took Junior. I put a bag over his head and took him into another bedroom.
BTK Serial Killer (28): Just put a bag of reset, a cloth of reset, a t-shirt, bags so that they couldn´t cut a hole. He simply died from that. The I went back to Josephine. I took her to the basement and got hunger... I had some sexual fantasies.
BTK Serial Killer (29): Maybe the house was kind of cleaned. It´s called the right-hand rule. You go from room to room. Pick your things up, I think I pick Mr. Otero´s watch. I guess I took a radio, I forgot about that, apparently took the radio. I don´t know, I don´t have any idea why I took these things. Just got the keys from the car, in fact, I had the keys before that... just to make sure I had a way to get out of the house. Clean the house a little bit, make sure everything was packed up, and left the front door. I went there... went over to the car...and then drove over to Dylan´s, left the car there and eventually I walked back to my farm.
